Economy Garages
This category of garage plans was designed and carefully detailed so as to reduce the comparative cost of construction, relative to standard or basic designs. We do not represent building costs but the plans of this category incorporate simplified and minimized detailing, along with structural choices that will require less material and labor. There are several garage plan sizes available.
Cost Reducing features include:
- 2'-0" o.c. wall stud spacing (instead of 1'-4" commonly specified)
- Single panel layer wall construction (using T1-11 plywood or 7/16" textured OSB instead of smooth sheathing + siding over)
- Relatively simplified eave and gable roof overhangs
- 1x thick trim materials nailed-over panel/siding
- Monolithic-poured, thickened edge floor/foundation detail. (although alternate for stemwall/footing details are included)
- Footprint, overall dimensions use 2 foot dimensional module to reduce waste
- Materials specified are available in most material supply stores throughout the US
